Joseph Steven Schilling

Joseph Steven Schilling, known fondly to friends and family as Joe or Steven, passed away on July 16, 2024, in Newton, New Jersey. Born on February 19, 1964, in Newark, New Jersey, 

He was a proud graduate of Essex County Vocational School, where he honed the skills and discipline that would define his career. 

After completing his education, Joseph honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, Joseph embarked on a distinguished career in law enforcement. He began his tenure with the Charleston South Carolina Police Department before ultimately retiring from the Goose Creek South Carolina Police Department at the rank of corporal.

He is survived by his wife, Raisa Schilling, and his beloved niece Alexis, who affectionately knew him as Uncle Steve. Joseph's memory will also be cherished by his brothers, Edward and Michael, and his sisters, Lynne and Laura, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his father, Joseph, and mother, Marlene. Joseph will be missed by his closest and dearest friend Marquetta Manigault-Jackson, who he spoke daily with. 

A private gathering to honor Joseph's life will be held by the family at a later time.
