Joseph C Frisina

FRISINA, Jr. Joseph C. 83, of Newark, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 21st at Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville Joe was the Director of the Tax Assessors Office for the City of Newark for many years before retiring, and also served as President of the Essex Couny Tax Assessors Association. Joe formed a friendship with Kenneth Gibson and worked with him on many projects for the City of Newark, eventually working with him to get elected as the first African American mayor for the city of Newark, something Joe was very proud of. He also served as Deputy Mayor under Mayor Kenneth Gibson. 

Joe was a beloved husband to Remy (nee:Cruz), a dear cousin to Raymond, Carol and Rose Fox, also a dear uncle to Lisa Meelheim and Michael and Robert Fox, and a dear brother in law to Arturo Cruz. Joe was predeceased by his parents Joseph C. Sr, and Teresa (nee:Mullaney) Frisina.

Visitation will be Saturday March 24th from 2:00 to 5:00pm and from 6:00 to 9:00pm and again on Sunday March 25th from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Branch Brook Memorial Home, 101 Union Ave, Belleville. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday March 26th at 10:30am at St. Anthony’s Church, Belleville. Family and friends are welcomed to the funeral home on Monday morning beginning at 9:30am prior to mass. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.
