Edgardo “Darito” Rivera passed away on October 8, 2022. He was born on February 17, 1963, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to Angelina Acevedo and Ramon Rivera. He was a 1981 graduate of Barringer High School and a 1987 graduate of Montclair State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He began his service career supporting children in the DYFS system, helping to reunite families. He worked as a substitute teacher for the Newark Public Schools for many years. He also worked translating for undocumented people from Latin America. Edgar was a huge fan of salsa music, especially from FrankieRuiz and Hector Lavoe. He had a deep love for the Yankees baseball team. Edgar is predeceased by his mother, Angelina Acevedo, his father, Ramon Rivera, and his older brother, Jose Valentin. He is survived by his twin sister, Migdalia Rivera, sisters Ivette Rivera & Alice Montero, and brother Benjamin Rivera as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, cousins, and other loved ones.
