Diella Slefko Obituary

Diella (De Zordo) Slefko, age 97, daughter of the late Attilio and Aurelia(Zandanel) De Zordo, passed away peacefully on August 10th, 2022.  Born and raised in New York City, she moved to Newark and then Belleville, NJ, where she had resided for the past 50 years.

Diella will always be remembered for her perpetual smile and sense of humor, and for the whimsical way she would recall stories that always brought others a smile.  She was an avid reader and also enjoyed painting.  She was employed by the A&P Food Store, having worked there for over 40 years.

Predeceased by her son Laurence Slefko this past January, and brothers Steve and Gino De Zordo, she is survived by twins Charles Slefko of Belleville, NJ, and Charlene Murphy and her partner James Tallent of Stockholm, NJ, and daughter Diella Slefko Leifert and her husband John of Staten Island, NY.  Also daughter-in-law Marlene Slefko of Ravenna, Ohio as well as her dear lifelong friends Dolores Vicente and Dorothy Walsh.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 am-12:00noon on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 at Branch Brook Memorial Home, 101 Union Avenue, Belleville, NJ.  Burial to follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, NJ.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, East Hanover, NJ in honor of Diella.
